The Truth About Getting Past Stuck - Getting Help is the Answer!

Again and again, I work with clients and have casual conversations with people who are stuck. In a rut. Unable to step into the next exciting chapter of their lives. Stuck is a recurring theme, and it’s heartbreaking to see people who are smart, interesting, creative and otherwise excited about life, frustrated because they’re not where they want to be.

After some questions (after all, it’s what I DO), I’ll find it doesn’t come down to not having given real thought to what it is they want or not knowing how to take the steps to get where they would love to be. It usually comes down to not knowing how to start. How to articulate what they want. How to get the confidence they need to voice their dreams.

Does this sound like you?

  • Successful at the work you’ve been doing, but not in love with it

  • Years of knowledge that’s come from taking care of yourself and those you love

  • Feeling disengaged from the purpose of the work you’re doing - or not able to explain the purpose at all

  • You’ve daydreamed - maybe for years - about what your idea work/life looks like, but you dismiss it as impossible

  • The time is right but you don’t know how to take action

You’re definitely not alone. It’s daunting to realize that what you’ve been doing isn’t what you truly want to be doing. You might have always known that, or it’s just becoming clear for you.

But what do you do about it? Whether it’s a career rut, a creativity block, or a wholesale change to your life, you’re not alone. I promise. Action starts with getting clear on your goals, then creating a plan to go after them. It’s not overnight. But it IS possible. To reach your goals, you need to find your team.

There is EVERYTHING RIGHT about reaching out for help.

One of my greatest joys is when I see transformative change happen for a client or a friend, because they allowed themselves to do the work of dreaming. Dreaming alone won’t get you where you want to be, but dreaming and putting those dreams into action will take you places you never thought possible.

There’s often fear around putting dreams into words, and sharing them with others. Will they think I’m way off base? That I don’t have what it takes? That I can’t do it?

Don’t let fear stop you.

Get a sounding board who will test your theories, challenge your assumptions, and cheer you on at every step. Someone with your best interest at heart and the knowledge to help you build yourself up and flesh out your plans, so you’ll succeed. You won’t be surprised to find out that’s exactly what I do for my clients as a coach. And I love it! I love seeing a client’s success out in the world and remembering the transformative moment for them - when they realized they were ready stop overthinking and to take action to embrace their dream.

Find out as much as you can about your passion, then create a plan of action to find out even more. Research is your friend. Data rules. Having facts behind you means better decisions. They won’t kill your dreams - they’ll make them stronger. You can’t launch your passion project on wisps of ideas - you need to be clear about what you need to succeed, then go after it. Getting support is part of success, so gather your team and get unstuck!
